17U BOYS GRASSROOTS BASKETBALL RATINGS - WEEK OF 7/28/2020

Here are the 17U Grassroots boys basketball ratings after the competition over the July 24-25th weekend.  Lots of action around the Central US but just a few tournaments out east and none that I could find in California or Nevada.  The Covid-19 pandemic has shut down a ton of tournaments so those that have been conducted are a lucky lot, assuming no one is getting sick from that exposure.

Because the EYBL was canceled, a number of the really top teams have not been in action, including Mokan Elite, which held an outstanding week-long camp to showcase their athletes without over-exposure at these tournaments.  Their leadership decided not to risk getting athletes sick and opted for the camp instead.  Only time will tell if teams that are competing will come out without getting sick.  

You look at the Florida Marlins situation and you have to wonder if competing at all right now is a good thing?

Because of the cancellations of so many tournaments, I am still listing some teams from last year's 16U ratings (they have a decimal point).  I think that is a valid assumption.  Many 17U teams are close to their 16U ranking.

Top 17U teams right now are Midwestern teams because most of the tournaments are taking place in the corn belt.  Indy Heat, Indian Elite, D1 Minnesota, and the Buddy Buckets teams are all within a whisker of one another.

Of Missouri teams, Yander Law, Gateway, and St. Louis Blazers have done very well in their competitions.  Here are my top 25 "Area" teams including some Illinois, St. Louis and Kansas City teams.  

Some of the ratings are still "iffy".  I expect teams like Gateway and Jets Orange to shoot up 10 points with their next outings, just like the Blazers did at the PH Grind.
